Sea and Beaches

The first piece of advice to give you for the sea is to always check the winds. The beauty of an island is that if one side has rough seas, on the opposite side you will surely find shelter and clean water.

Use app like OrientElba they can advise you based on the current winds which beaches are more sheltered.,
However, be aware that the winds on the island often change suddenly.

On the island, there are over 100 beaches.

We are located just a few hundred meters from the white coast of Portoferraio, with beaches featuring crystal-clear water.

The main beach of the town, Ghiaie Beach, is within walking distance and is 1km away. It is also a fully protected area. Fishing is only allowed from the beach with a rod and outside of swimming hours.
The beach is fully illuminated, allowing you to swim at night.

You can also reach Padulella Beach (850m) and Capo Bianco Beach (800m) on foot. Alternatively, if you continue by car on the white coast in the direction of Enfola, you will find the famous Sansone Beach (5km).

If you prefer sandy beaches, you will need to travel by means of transportation.
You can reach Biodola Beach, Scaglieri Beach, or Forno Beach, which are all approximately 7km away and can be reached in 15 minutes.

To the south, you can find sandy beaches such as Lacona Beach (10km away), as well as the famous Cavoli Beach (21km away) and Fetovaia Beach (24km away), which are also known for their parties.

Between Capoliveri and Rio, some stunning beaches feature unique sand or stones due to the mining history of the area.

To enjoy the sunset, the cliffs of Sant'Andrea (29km away) to the west will give you an unforgettable memory.
